Colleagues,

To borrow from Dickens, it is the best of times and the worst of times to be a social studies educator. After what seemed to be a simulation of the Great Depression, then a simulation of the Spanish Flu pandemic, we now have a war in Europe reinvigorating the Cold War. We have our work cut out for us to help add context for students, to help them sort and sift information against the tide of misinformation, to calm anxieties, and to use the skills and knowledge that social studies disciplines can teach to help make some sense out of events that seem senseless. Here are some baseline resources that may be of use in this particular moment in history. We welcome your ideas and resources as well, and as always thank you for all you do for Utah students.
